Firmware Engineering Co-op - Spring 2027

JOB SUMMARY:This co-op offers an experience uniquely designed to bridge the gap between academic studies and practical application in firmware development within a new product development and manufacturing environment. Co-op program students will have the opportunity to develop their engineering judgment and gain practical experience with gradually increasing autonomy over design decisions, processes, adaptations, and modifications. Activities may include, but are not limited to, writing, and maintaining embedded control systems, performing tests, process changes, data analysis, and presentation delivery. With varying levels of experience, co-op students may also lead their own projects.ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES:Develops, writes, and maintains Embedded Control System (ECS) software with manufactured hardware.Creates and maintains Windows PC software for engineering and production test stations.Designs and executes both automated and manual software verification and validation tests to ensure product integrity.Develops detailed control and test specifications, contributing to hardware/software development that verifies design efficacy in production settings.Participates in all design phases, from analysis and testing to the qualification of designs for production and public distribution.Generates comprehensive documentation related to the software engineering function, including design process records, to comply with regulatory standards such as FDA, GMP, ISO, and Underwriters Laboratories Standards.Ensures documentation is comprehensive to facilitate production as designed, maintaining adherence to current and future regulatory requirements affecting product design.SECONDARY DUTIES:Executes engineering change orders and develops test protocols and reports.Utilizes a diverse array of software tools, including 3D modeling software and Microsoft Office Suite.Delivers formal presentations and reports on conducted work, facilitating clear communication and collaboration.Actively participates and engages in the enterprise co-op program cohort.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Enrollment in a 4-year accredited degree program is required, with a focus on obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.COMPETENCY and/or SKILL: Ability to follow instructionsAbility to multitask and problem solveAttention to detailAbility to work independently and collaborativelyProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: N/AFounded in 1915, Midmark Corporation is the only company transforming healthcare experiences through innovative design within the medical, dental and animal health environments.
