Laboratory Assistant

The City of Yuba City is currently recruiting for Laboratory Assistant! This recruitment will close on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 12PM (PST) or upon receiving fifty (50) minimally qualified applications. The Laboratory Assistant is an entry level position that works in the laboratory. An individual in this position performs the routine, less complicated, repetitive tasks in the field and the laboratory. This position performs a variety of functions within the laboratory including but not limited to water and wastewater sampling, data entry into the Laboratory's LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System), simple sample testing utilizing different types of equipment, maintaining all working areas of the laboratory and clerical tasks including invoicing. Incumbents in this class typically have some laboratory experience and work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.

Qualifications

Education: An Associate's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, microbiology, environmental, sanitary or public health engineering, natural or physical science. Experience: Laboratory experience involving responsibility for basic analytical procedures relating to water and/or wastewater and customer service experience is desired. Licenses and/or Certificates Required: Possession of a valid California driver's license.
