Job Description

This role focuses on installing aftermarket kits on new rotary-wing aircraft and performing a wide range of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on airframes and engines. The A&P Mechanic will work extensively on Bell and other helicopter platforms, carrying out structural repairs, fabrications, disassembly and reassembly, as well as supporting post-maintenance flight test activities and avionics installations.

Responsibilities

• Install Bell, AA, and other aftermarket kits on new aircraft, including systems such as air conditioners, sliding doors, rescue hoists, and FAST rope systems.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on airframes and engines, including removal and replacement of engines and major airframe components.
• Carry out sheet metal repairs and fabricate sheet metal and composite parts as required to support aircraft maintenance and modifications.
• Perform complete aircraft disassembly and reassembly as needed for maintenance, inspection, or modification projects.
• Support and perform post-maintenance flight test duties to verify proper operation and airworthiness of aircraft systems and structures.
• Perform major and minor repairs and alterations to aircraft structures, including both sheet metal and composite repairs and fabrications.
• Fabricate mounting provisions and structural supports for avionics installations in accordance with technical specifications and drawings.
• Follow all applicable maintenance manuals, drawings, and regulatory requirements while documenting work performed accurately and thoroughly.
• Collaborate with other technicians and departments to ensure aircraft are completed on schedule and to quality standards.

Essential Skills

• Active Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license.
• At least 4 years of rotary-wing aircraft maintenance experience.
• Hands-on experience working on helicopters, particularly Bell platforms.
• Proficiency in performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on airframes and engines.
• Ability to remove and replace engines and major airframe components safely and efficiently.
• Strong skills in sheet metal repair and fabrication of sheet metal and composite parts.
• Experience performing major and minor structural repairs and alterations on aircraft.
• Capability to disassemble and reassemble aircraft for maintenance and modification tasks.
• Ability to fabricate mounting provisions and supports for avionics installations.
• Familiarity with post-maintenance flight test support procedures.
• Knowledge of maintenance documentation practices and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship in a hangar environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Bell 407, Bell 412, and Bell 429 aircraft is highly preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding in customization or completion center environments is beneficial.
• Experience installing aftermarket kits such as air conditioning systems, sliding doors, rescue hoists, and FAST rope systems.
• Comfort working with composite materials and advanced fabrication techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and maintenance manuals.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and structural issues.
• Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with other technicians and support teams.

Work Environment

The role is based in a hangar and customization/completion center environment focused on rotary-wing aircraft. You will work directly on helicopters such as Bell platforms, installing aftermarket kits and performing maintenance, repairs, and structural modifications. The setting involves typical hangar conditions, including working around aircraft, tools, and equipment, with a focus on hands-on mechanical and structural tasks. Dress code allows jeans or work pants, and in warmer weather, appropriate shorts similar in style to uniform shorts are acceptable. Closed-toe shoes are required, though steel-toe footwear is not mandatory. The environment is practical and workshop-oriented, supporting detailed maintenance, fabrication, and installation work on aircraft.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bluff City, TN.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
