Maintenance Mechanic
Location: Central New Jersey(Edison based)
Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 annually

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:00pm (with rotating on-call and weekend coverage)


Our client is looking for a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to support the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of equipment at water treatment and distribution facilities. This role is ideal for an experienced maintenance professional with strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills who enjoys working in a critical infrastructure environment.
Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repairs, and installations on pumps, motors, valves, generators, and related equipment.
• Maintain instrumentation including flow and pressure meters, recording devices, transmitters, chemical detection equipment, and computer systems.
• Service chemical feed systems, chlorinators, and chemical metering pumps.
• Troubleshoot electrical and SCADA systems.
• Maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment as needed.
• Inspect, test, and maintain system protection and emergency equipment, including backup generators and emergency lighting systems.
• Conduct routine inspections of treatment plant equipment, intake stations, and metering facilities.
• Perform facility start-up and shutdown procedures as required.
• Receive and handle treatment chemicals following all safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and inventory of repair parts.
• Assist with facility upgrades, modifications, and equipment installations.
• Participate in emergency response activities after appropriate training.
• Perform snow removal, basin cleaning, tank cleaning, and general facility maintenance as needed.
• Participate in rotating on-call schedules and work overtime as required.
• Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid New Jersey driver's license required.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience maintaining and operating equipment related to water, wastewater, industrial, manufacturing, or utility facilities.
• Experience with pumps, motors, electrical systems, instrumentation, mechanical equipment, and troubleshooting.
• Trade experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, chemical feed systems, or related fields is highly preferred.
• Ability to obtain a New Jersey T-1 License within three years of employment.
• Ability to obtain a New Jersey Black Seal License within three years of employment.
• Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and teamwork.
