Emily Ace Hardware is looking for friendly, motivated Sales Associates or Retail Cashiers to join our team. Sales Associates don't just sell products they help customers solve problems. In this role you'll assist customers throughout the store while supporting daily store operations including stocking, merchandising, and maintaining a clean and organized environment. Cashiers will receive cash from customers or associates in payment for goods or services in a quick and friendly manner while providing genuine customer service.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Customer Service:

• Greet customers warmly and assist them throughout the store
• Drive sales by helping customers find solutions for home improvement and hardware projects and helping customers find any needed items to complete their project.
• Deliver personalized service with the goal of "Amazing Every Customer, Every Time"
• Maintain strong knowledge of store products and layout
• Handle customer questions and concerns and escalate concerns to management when needed
• Answer store phones and pages promptly and courteously, using good phone etiquette.
• Remain honest and communicative with customers, associates and management

Store Operations:

• Receive, check in, and stock merchandise, rotate stock, help keep accurate inventory
• Maintain organized shelves, displays, and back stock areas
• Assist with merchandising, seasonal resets, and promotional displays
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized sales floor and stockroom
• Ensure signage and pricing are accurate
• Participate in team meetings and support store initiatives and goals
• Follows all store and department policies and procedures.
• Performs fixed activities as assigned.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Use provided communication and own tools, in an effort to help the team work in the most efficient way

Cashier:

• Manage transactions using a register
• Scanning goods and ensuring pricing and quantities are accurate, in an efficient and prompt manner
• Accepting payments in cash, credit, or check and providing receipts
• Bagging purchased goods
• Ensures proper handling of all forms of tender and coupons.
• Processes and is accountable for other services handled at the register.

Supervisory responsibilities:

• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and these holidays (Memorial Day weekend, 4th July and around that day, and Labor Day Weekend).
• Age 14+ are encouraged to apply

Education and/or experience:

• Some hardware knowledge is preferred but not required
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Willingness to learn about hardware products and home improvement solutions
• Retail, hardware, or trade experience helpful but not required

Language skills:

• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Write routine reports and correspondence
• Present information and respond to questions from customers or associates

Mathematical skills:

• Basic math concepts (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, measurements, aspects of the calender and dates)

Certificates, licenses, registrations:

• This position has no required certifications, licenses, or registrations

Recommended equipment:
