A respected Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) is seeking an Assistant Medical Director – Internal Medicine to join its leadership team in Albuquerque, New Mexico, located about one hour from Santa Fe.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: $285,000
• Up to 15% annual performance bonus
• $3,000 quarterly leadership stipend for each Pharmacist and Physician Assistant supervised
• 5 weeks (200 hours) PTO
• $3,000 CME allowance plus 5 paid CME days
• Additional $1,000 for licensure, professional memberships, and subscriptions

Position Highlights

• Monday–Friday schedule
• 50% clinical practice / 50% leadership and administrative responsibilities
• Reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer
• Average of 2.6 patients per clinical hour
• Athena EMR across all clinic locations
• Position available due to continued organizational growth
• This role combines direct patient care with physician leadership. Responsibilities include providing comprehensive primary care, overseeing 4 Physicians, 7 Nurse Practitioners, and 2 Physician Assistants , monitoring provider productivity, partnering with the CMO to improve clinical workflows and operations, and coordinating provider schedules and coverage. The organization provides Primary Care, HIV and Hepatitis C treatment, Behavioral Health, and Pharmacy services. Providers share call responsibilities, averaging 1–4 calls per month , with nurse triage handling initial calls. Typical patient panels range from 1,080–1,350 patients , adjusted for the physician's 50% clinical allocation.

Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
• Primary care physician with an interest in clinical leadership
• Eligible to obtain or maintain an active New Mexico Medical License
