This role focuses on safely and efficiently handling, preparing, and loading products for shipment and installation. You will stack and palletize materials, apply protective measures, and ensure accurate documentation while using material-handling equipment. Over time, you will take on greater responsibility, including leading the warehouse team and supporting production tasks such as surface finishing and product patching.

Responsibilities

• Stack product correctly on pallets to prevent cracking, breaking, or other damage.
• Palletize all product according to how it will be installed on the field, ensuring proper sequence and organization.
• Shrink wrap product and apply tickets and labels to each order for clear identification and tracking.
• Use overhead hoists for the majority of lifting to move product safely and efficiently.
• Operate pallet jacks to move product around the warehouse and load trucks.
• Load product onto trailers in the order it will be installed on site, from first to last bricks, to streamline field operations.
• Learn to lead the warehouse team and gradually take on additional duties and leadership responsibilities as the job progresses.
• Calculate fractions, decimals, portions, percentages, area, and volume to support accurate measurements and loading calculations.
• Read and interpret blueprints, including shop drawings, hardware lists, and piece tickets, to ensure correct handling and staging of materials.
• Perform surface finishes such as acid washing, sandblasting, honing, and polishing on products as needed.
• Perform filling and patching of products, along with any painting that may be required to meet quality standards.
• Stack finished products on pallets, A-frames, or in bulk, ensuring correct pallet weights, product protection devices, stability, and accurate pallet tags.
• Load small trailers and semi-trailers, ensuring correct trailer weights, load stability, proper tie-downs, and adherence to safety guidelines.
• Follow work orders accurately to complete shipping, receiving, and production tasks.
• Use power tools and other equipment as required for assembly, finishing, and general labor tasks.
• Support general labor and production activities in the warehouse and open production environment as needed.

Essential Skills

• At least 12 months of previous warehouse experience.
• Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including order preparation and documentation.
• Ability to read and follow work orders, blueprints, shop drawings, hardware lists, and piece tickets.
• Proficiency in operating forklifts and pallet jacks for material handling and loading.
• Comfort using overhead hoists for lifting and moving heavy products.
• Ability to calculate fractions, decimals, portions, percentages, area, and volume accurately.
• Experience with material handling, loading trailers, and ensuring load stability and proper tie-downs.
• Capability to perform general labor and production tasks in an industrial environment.
• Leadership capabilities with the potential to move into a leadership role in the warehouse.
• Ability to use power tools safely for assembly, finishing, and patching tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in shipping and receiving within a production or concrete environment.
• Background in working with concrete products or similar building materials.
• Familiarity with surface finishing techniques such as acid washing, sandblasting, honing, and polishing.
• Experience performing filling, patching, and painting on manufactured products.
• Ability to stack and secure finished products on pallets, A-frames, or in bulk with attention to stability and protection.
• Comfort working with assembly tasks and general labor in a fast-paced warehouse setting.
• Strong attention to detail for labeling, ticketing, and ensuring correct pallet and trailer weights.
• Interest in developing leadership skills and taking on team-leading responsibilities over time.

Work Environment

You will work in an open production environment that can be hot in the summers and colder in the winters due to large bay doors. The role involves regular use of material-handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead hoists, and power tools, along with handling concrete and other heavy products. Work typically starts early in the morning, with tasks focused on shipping, receiving, production support, and general labor. You should be comfortable in an industrial setting with variable temperatures, active equipment use, and hands-on, physical work throughout the shift.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Ulm, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
