The Lee County Highway Department is seeking a detail-oriented, dependable, and motivated professional to fill a full-time Engineering & Business Technician position. This hybrid position combines technical engineering support with administrative and financial responsibilities and plays an important role in the daily operations of the County Highway Department. Position OverviewThe Engineering & Business Technician assists with roadway and bridge projects while also supporting office administration and financial record keeping. Duties include CAD drafting, field inspections, materials testing, survey support, accounts payable/receivable processing, and maintaining department records. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesEngineering SupportPrepare preliminary roadway and drainage plans using CAD softwareAssist with field surveys and operate survey equipmentPerform construction inspection for road, bridge, and culvert projectsConduct materials sampling and testing in accordance with IDOT specificationsAdministrative & Financial SupportProcess accounts payable/receivable and maintain Motor Fuel Tax financial ledgersMaintain organized project, financial, and personnel recordsProvide general office support including phones, mail, and public interactionQualificationsRequired:High School Diploma or equivalentTwo-year degree in computer-aided drafting, construction technology, or related fieldProficiency with Microsoft Office and CAD softwareValid Illinois driver's licensePreferred:Experience with roadway construction or engineering officesFamiliarity with IDOT specifications and documentation proceduresWork ScheduleMonday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM. Occasional overtime may be required during construction season.
