Continuous Technical Lead I - C Shift (7:30PM - 7:45AM - 4 on/ 4 off)

Continuous Tech Lead

Technical leaders concentrate on the technical aspects of the production process, verifying correct setup and changeover, resolving production or equipment problems and reviewing quality of work.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Communicating safety discrepancies or issues to the Supervisor or Area Manager.
• Assisting with product changeover and set up production equipment and verifying the functionality of safety equipment in accordance with current good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures.
• Troubleshooting problems with equipment, devices, or products.
• Monitoring and adjusting production processes or equipment for quality and productivity.
• Inspecting production for quality and adherence to customer specifications.
• Monitoring SPC charts and using precision measuring instruments to perform quality checks.
• Maintaining inventory of job materials and ensuring that operators have adequate raw materials and supplies.
• Confirming the correct entry of computer input of ticket information.
• Providing production, progress, or changeover reports to shift supervisors.
• Writing work orders and updating journal at end of shift.
• Following company policies and enforcing safety regulations.
• Following work procedures to meet production schedules.
• Recommending measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
• Suggesting changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency and safety in the department.
• Training operators as needed.
• Measuring and recording data associated with operating equipment; providing advice or training to employees in the assigned area; and selecting cleaning materials, tools, or equipment.
• Operating production equipment, when needed.
• Assisting engineers in developing, building, or testing prototypes or new products, processes, or procedures.
• Communicating safety discrepancies or issues to the Team Coordinator or Area Manager.
• Inputting maintenance work orders through Maximo system.
• Reviewing internal email and calendar system several times per shift.
• Participating in PM (Preventive Maintenance), MMOL (Machine Maintenance Operator Leader), and G5S (Global 5S: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain), and Kaizen activities, as needed.
• Following all EMS (Environmental Management System) procedures, including the disposal of waste and used materials.
• This job has no supervisory responsibilities and no direct reports.

Physical demands include:

• Standing, sitting, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talking or hearing.
• Climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling or crouching.
• Lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, using a pallet jack to move 400-500 pounds.
• Passing scheduled testing for vision, hearing, respirator fitting and spirometry.

Work environment includes:

• Wet or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; extreme heat; vibration.
• Noise level is usually moderate; occasionally loud.

Safety requirements/PPE include:

• Safety shoes must be worn while on NGK property.
• Hearing, head and eye protection are required in designated areas or under prescribed work conditions.
• Respirator, half mask cartridge respirators plus goggles, or full face cartridge respirators may be required in designated areas or under prescribed work conditions.
