Whether through Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson, IMSE, or a Master's in reading instruction, you've built the foundation. You can identify a student's phonemic error instantly and pinpoint the exact gap to address. You can build a phonics lesson from scratch without leaning on a scripted program. Your initial months focus on building trust and rapport. Workshops must be engaging, appropriately leveled, and demonstrably effective. Student satisfaction metrics and "love your Guide" survey results (target of 90%+) directly measure your success. Once you've proven your impact, your responsibilities expand: analyzing AI-generated performance insights to refine upcoming instruction, communicating fluency progress and decoding growth to parents, and contributing to how Alpha's K-2 reading strategy develops in tandem with adaptive technology. As Alpha grows to additional campuses, your work becomes the blueprint for reading instruction across the organization. Prior to hiring, you'll submit a brief video of yourself telling an engaging story for young children, and you'll complete a full day on campus working directly with K-2 students. What You Will Be Doing Creating and facilitating small-group K-2 reading workshops rooted in structured-literacy approaches (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or equivalent), informed by live student performance data Facilitating daily motivation sessions designed to ensure 100% of your students achieve their weekly adaptive-app targets, leveraging Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate gamification) Conducting and evaluating running records, fluency assessments, and decoding evaluations to monitor progress and refine subsequent instruction Analyzing AI-generated performance insights from Alpha's adaptive learning platforms to personalize instruction in the moment, not solely during preparation Serving as the energetic, relatable adult your K-2 students are excited to see every single day What You Won't Be Doing Implementing a commercial reading curriculum, scripted program, or district pacing calendar; you'll design your own lessons based on student data Delivering whole-class lectures; all instruction occurs in small, targeted groups while students complete academic subjects through adaptive apps Serving as a reading consultant, instructional coach, or district-level specialist; you'll be in the classroom with children daily Managing a conventional classroom schedule—subject-by-subject lectures, homework corrections, test preparation; your time is dedicated to workshops, motivation sessions, and data-informed small groups Grading homework assignments or report cards; student advancement is tracked through app analytics and your running records Reading Interventionist Key Responsibilities Provide structured-literacy instruction that produces measurable acceleration in K-2 reading outcomes across phonics, fluency, and decoding.
