Registered Nurse - Pulmonary Unit

A 523-bed, full-service acute care hospital in Gainesville is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Pulmonary unit. This leading medical center is a Comprehensive Stroke Center, an Accredited Chest Pain Center, and a designated Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery and Bariatric Surgery, offering a strong environment for clinical growth and specialty care experience.

Position Overview

The Pulmonary RN provides direct, patient-centered care to adult patients who are ill, injured, or recovering within an interdisciplinary team model. This role requires strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and the ability to develop and implement individualized care plans that support safe and effective recovery.

The RN is also a key advocate for patient safety and plays an important role in educating patients and families throughout the care journey, ensuring clear understanding of diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and collect clinical data to guide care decisions.
• Analyze patient information to identify nursing diagnoses and clinical priorities.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans with measurable outcomes.
• Monitor patients’ responses to treatments and adjust care plans as needed.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and protocols.
• Provide patient and family education related to conditions, medications, and procedures.
• Advocate for patient safety and ensure high standards of care delivery.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse experience required (any setting including LTAC, home health, etc.).
• Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Current Florida RN license or approved multistate RN license required.
• Compact license holders must obtain Florida licensure within 60 days of relocation.
• Basic Life Support (BLS – AHA Healthcare Provider) required prior to start.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support required within 30 days of hire.
• Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and patient care skills.

Schedule

• Night shift
• 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Rotating weekends required
