Lead Custodian Blue Grass Elementary

Lead Custodian Blue Grass Elementary 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm (day shift when school not in session) Internal bids thru 8/14/26 @ 4:00 PM. External applicants (we will hire externally if no successful internal bidder): Open until filled. New hire: Entry level rate $20.62/hr. Current employees with seniority in the bargaining unit, please refer to the salary schedule established by the bargaining unit.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Trash removal
• Restrooms
• Clean glass
• Dust horizontal surfaces, clocks, overhead screens, blinds
• Cleans carpets and hard flooring
• Assist with deep cleaning during break periods-strips, scrubs & recoats. Carpet extraction, cleans restrooms, glass and furniture
• Remove snow / cut grass / minor grounds keeping
• Assist with delivery of supplies
• Properly use and maintain equipment per owner's manual and or direction from maintenance staff
• Operates all energy consuming devices in the most efficient manner striving to attain maximum energy conservation
• Monitors HVAC system and reports problems to maintenance via work orders
• Make minor repairs to equipment, building, furniture, hardware, windows etc.
• Reports major repair problems to head custodian and maintenance department
• Responsible for closing and securing building
• Must establish and maintain a satisfactory working relationship with teachers, students and fellow employees
• Must treat fellow workers with respect and facilitate a non-hostile work environment
• Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements of Position:

• Have physical ability to lift and carry 56 lbs.
• Have the physical ability to climb an eight-foot ladder and perform custodial tasks

Special Qualification Desired:

• Must have high school degree or GED
• Must be able to direct others to the successful completion of assigned tasks
• Have a thorough knowledge of all cleaning procedures, chemicals & equipment
• Ability to learn how to operate a computer, use email, open attachments and complete electronic work orders
