Bulk DriverThe Bulk Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of cement and other related products in both rural and urban environments in all weather conditions. This position serves to support the Ready-Mix concrete industry by providing the materials necessary in a timely manner and with the utmost safety for all parties utilizing the highway/roadway system along with their own safety.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Transportation:Drive company-owned or leased trucks in a professional manner to transport and deliver products or other materialsCheck vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working orderOperate equipment, such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones to exchange necessary information with dispatch, supervisors, or other driversPre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicle and trailer to ensure safety as a priorityReport all on-duty accidents and any on-duty or off-duty violations, suspensions, disqualifications, or revocationsDrive trucks to weigh stations when appropriate along routes to document weights and to comply with state regulationsMaintain, protect, and report vehicle defectsDelivery:Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crewCheck all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurateObtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when requiredEthical Conduct:Knowledge and compliance with OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and company safety rules and regulationsMust be courteous, professional, safe, and have a positive attitude while working with customers, fellow employees, the public, state, county, and city officersGlobal Responsibilities:Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function of this positionThis job may require additional duties not listed above and the employee may be asked to perform those duties to meet business needsQualifications:Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications:High School Diploma or equivalent requiredValid Class A Driver's LicenseValid medical card obtained through company physical examExperience:Minimum 2 years driving experience requiredSkills/Abilities:Safe driving recordAbility to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries and to make entries on reports and records requiredWorking Conditions:Operation within a fast-paced environmentExposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, heavy construction equipment, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditionsMust be able to work through stressful situations while maintaining professionalism and composureIn an enclosed vehicle subject to whole body vibration and sedentary position for up to 6-14 hours per dayOutdoors, exposed to weather, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicalsExtremely bright or inadequate lightingNoise levels may be distracting or uncomfortablePhysical Requirements:Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and armsOccasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawlMust be able to stand and move about job sites with uneven and unpaved ground while unloading cement from tankerSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focusMust be able to frequently bend to attach and detach product hoses from tractor and silosMust be able to operate buttons, levers, and other controls located on various equipmentMust be able to work long and flexible hours as necessaryMust be able to maneuver in and around our plants, yards, and jobsites as necessaryLift/Carry up to 55 pounds frequentlyLift up to 100 pounds occasionallyBenefits Information:In alignment with our Bargaining Agreement, we are proud to partner with our Union representatives to provide a benefits package that is both competitive and tailored to meet the needs of our employees and their families.
