Starting Date: Aug 24, 2026 Job Description JOB SUMMARY: Support students in reaching their full intellectual, physical, emotional, and psychological potential. Plan, develop, and implement an engaging music curriculum for elementary students that fosters creativity, skill development, and a lifelong appreciation for music. Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of music curriculum in elementary schools. Skilled in lesson plan development, implementation of learning activities, behavior management, assessment, and teaching to individual student skill levels. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, build relationships with students, parents, and staff; preferred ability to communicate with Spanish‑speaking students and parents. Ability to integrate technology into the music classroom. Experience: Experience preferred but not required. Education: Completion of a higher education Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Music Education. Certification Required: A valid teaching license issued by the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission with proper endorsements for Music in grades K-5. Essential Job Functions Conduct assigned classes, providing effective instruction and support for student learning. Develop and implement a program of study that supports the interests, needs, and abilities of students while aligning instruction with district and state curriculum standards. Create and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and supports developmental needs, maturity levels, and interests of all students. Prepare for classes assigned and provide written evidence of preparation upon supervisor request. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technologies that align with student needs and support learning within available district resources and facilities. Establish and maintain effective communication with students and families regarding academic achievement, behavioral development, and overall student progress; collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to promote student success and school-wide goals. Participate in staff meetings, professional development activities, and other required school functions while pursuing opportunities to enhance professional knowledge, skills, and instructional effectiveness. Support implementation of school and district policies, procedures, and regulations while maintaining accurate student records and monitoring academic progress. Maintain a safe and positive learning environment by protecting student well‑being and ensuring proper use and care of equipment, materials, and school facilities. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Language Skills: Ability to read English and comprehend complex technical language; write memoranda, correspondence, lesson plans, reports, and student achievement summaries in English; present information effectively in one‑to‑one and small group situations. Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but basic written or oral instructions in English; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to work collaboratively and establish effective working relationships with co‑workers, supervisors, staff, students, parents, and community. Physical Demands: The physical demands listed below are representative of those that must be met to perform the essential functions of this job. Work Environment: Works in a school environment; able to use a telephone, operate a computer, and use other office equipment. Able to drive to other program sites and meetings. Terms of Employment: Salary and work year in accordance with negotiated agreement between licensed teachers and the district. Classification: 0.6 FTE, probationary position, Antonia Crater Elementary School. Calendar / Benefits 8 hours per day; 190 days starting August 24, 2026 plus 2 additional days prior for new hire orientation. Salary range based on prior experience, prorated to 0.6 FTE $31,403.40 - $64,573.20, per the Licensed CBA. Newberg Dundee Public Schools pays 6% PERS contribution, provides a generous insurance cap, long‑term disability, and life insurance. Optional Life, AD&D insurance, short‑term disability, tax shelter annuities, Section 125 health and dependent care accounts, tuition reimbursement, professional development and employee assistance program through Canopy available to all staff.
