Job Description Summary
The Patient Registration Representative serves as the initial point of contact for patients. Under general supervision and reporting to the Patient Access Services Supervisor, the Patient Access Services Representative provides high level customer service while facilitating accurate and timely completion of registration verifying and preparing all patient accounts for inpatient and outpatient billing to maximize payment for Hospital and Clinic services. This position reviews and verifies all payment methods available (insurance, self-pay, agency) and patient/insurance information. This role works with patients to set up payment arrangements and to arrange/apply for assistance programs. Assists in collecting copayments and deductibles and solves basic billing inquiries. Job Description
Minimum Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED), with 1 year of customer service experience. Ability to interpret and apply financial procedures and regulations preferred. Previous experience with hospital information systems or word processing preferred.
1.1 FY24: Performs Pre-Registration and Registration Process:
- Calls to obtain demographic / financial information via telephone or face to face interview prior to day of admit for service.
- Able to pre-register in the registration system by pulling DAR various scheduling systems (Epic). Able to pull schedule as needed.
- Process complete registrations in the required systems.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of the hospital registration system including knowledge and use of peripheral equipment (fax, copier, printers, downtime, scanning system).
- Able to process registrations in various flows used by department.
- Edit Average # of registrations per hour per month Scale 5 (mentor) = >3.4 (consistent) = 2.2 - 3.4 (inconsistent) = <2.2 25.0%
1.2 FY24: Our Day Complete all required Our Day training modules assigned by department supervisor. Edit All modules must be in completed status by assigned date. 20.0%
1.3 FY24: MSP Audit: Must complete MSQ on all Medicare patients to be compliant with CMS prior to discharge. Edit Average Monthly Audit Score Scale 5 (mentor) = >96 3 (consistent) = 95 1 (inconsistent) = <90 15.0%
1.4 FY24: Registration Quality: Users are required to complete specific information with the proper format during the registration process. Any incomplete data generated from the registration process will need to be updated within 8 hours of admission. Edit Monthly %: 5 (mentor) = >70% 3 (consistent) = 55-65% 1 (inconsistent) = <50% 40.0%
