NYFA Learning serves as the organization’s front‑line of professional development, serving artists, creators, arts and culture workers in New York City, statewide, nationwide, and internationally. NYFA Learning also encompasses the Immigrant Artist Program (IAP) that offers support through information, resources, and professional development, to immigrant artists of all disciplines, locally, nationally, and internationally. Position Objective NYFA Learning is seeking a program officer to build upon NYFA’s history of providing programming and resources to immigrant artists of all disciplines to continue growing the Immigrant Artist Resource Center; to centralize available resources and with the support of key partnerships, become a hub for immigrant artists in the five boroughs of New York City. Since 2007, NYFA has been fostering networks and community engagement with the immigrant artist community, through the Immigrant Artist Mentoring Program, Immigrant Artist Newsletter, the IAP Directory, and recently, IAP Discord, an online platform for immigrant artists to engage, share work, exchange ideas and resources. Their goal is to increase this impact and help combat ongoing issues facing immigrant artists as well as challenges amplified by the pandemic. Candidates with an understanding of the immigrant experience and fostering community are encouraged to apply. The focus of this position falls within three key areas: 1) increasing engagement with immigrant artists; 2) increasing program activity for immigrant artists; 3) Strengthening and expanding current online resources and platforms for audience engagement. To achieve these outcomes, analysis and assessment of available data, including current online resources, will need to be undertaken. This process will provide an understanding of where NYFA has a presence while identifying immigrant communities and neighborhoods they are not reaching. Guided by the findings, an outreach and engagement strategy will be developed that will include new communities and gathering information about what services could be impactful. Additionally, identifying potential cross‑sector partnerships, with the aim of immigrant artists having access to referrals, information, and resources, on an ongoing basis. This would also include re‑envisioning the IAP Directory and approaches to offering audience engagement opportunities. The Program Officer joins the NYFA Learning team working on other initiatives, for example, customized entrepreneurial and arts leadership programs, and working with institutional partnerships. Additionally, through nationwide mentoring programs (Denver, Detroit, Newark, Oakland, San Antonio), Learning has an alumni network of immigrant artists, who they continue to support through access to online programming, opportunities, and resources. Essential Duties Design curriculum and implement professional development programming. Preparation of publicity materials and targeted outreach for programming. Collaborate, manage relationships, and related communications with consultants, panelists, partners, and participants, to implement programs and workshops. Maintenance of information and resources related to NYC constituents, including research. Facilitation of events, meetings, and public programs (some evenings will be required). Evaluation, assessment, and reporting: as needed for applicable purposes. Travel within five boroughs of NYC: as needed to facilitate programs. Other duties as assigned. Other (Marginal) Duties Other tasks and day‑to‑day operational support. Preparation of meeting spaces: including PA system, moving chairs, and temporary walls. Hospitality: purchasing and preparation for in‑person meetings. Requirements At least two years related experience. Background and interest in the arts in all disciplines. Experience with program design, facilitation and implementation. Strong writing, communication, proofreading, and editing skills. Detail oriented, with an ability to prioritize tasks, work well collaboratively and independently, with a small level of error. Experience with Excel, Word, Google organization tools (docs/slides/forms, etc). Experience with online conferencing and webinar platforms, a plus. Experience with CRM databases, NEON, a plus. Application platforms and planning tools, i.e. Submittable and Asana, a plus. Foreign language skills and/or interest in translation, language access programming, a plus.
