RN - Telemetry

Registered Nurse (RN)This position is located in a MedSurg/Telemetry unit with a total of 38 beds, including 8 telemetry beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, and the unit operates in a fast-paced environment. The shift length is 12 hours, with shifts primarily at night.Job ResponsibilitiesProvide direct patient care to a diverse patient population, including general MedSurg patients and post-operative orthopedic patients.Coordinate and implement care plans based on patient needs and unit protocols.Float to telemetry as necessary and demonstrate the ability to read and interpret EKG strips.Administer medications and IV drips, including Amiodarone and Diltiazem, while ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hospitalists and intensivists to optimize patient care.Participate in unit orientation, including a 1-2 day onboarding with a preceptor.Engage in self-scheduling while being willing to work every other weekend and rotating holidays as needed.QualificationsMinimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a MedSurg or telemetry setting.Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.Ability to manage and interpret telemetry data effectively.Strong organizational and time management skills.Flexibility to float between units as necessary based on patient census and staffing needs.Additional InformationScrub color: Navy; under shirts must be navy, white, or black; scrub jackets are optional but must be navy.Hospitalist or intensivist available on-site for support during shifts.No RT or IV teams available; respiratory therapy and pharmacy support are available 24/7.Census and staffing will dictate the presence of nurse aides on the unit.Orientation to the unit will be provided during the first week, with subsequent scheduling completed by management.COVID-19 vaccination requirements: Medical declination requires a physician's note; religious declination does not require documentation.Holiday and Time Off PolicyTravelers are expected to work 2 out of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's. While holiday time off requests will be considered, it is not guaranteed.
