Senior Manager, Technology Strategy - Operational Technology

Walmart

Position Summary The Senior Manager, Product Management – Operational Technology owns the end‑to‑end product lifecycle, technology strategy, and operational health for enterprise Operational Technology platforms that support campus operations, building systems, and digital workplace infrastructure. This role blends product leadership, technology strategy, and product support governance to ensure platforms are strategically aligned, scalable, reliable, supportable, and fit for real‑world operational environments. Operating at the intersection of physical infrastructure, software platforms, data, and operations, the leader translates long‑term strategy and production signals into clear roadmaps, investment decisions, and measurable outcomes. Responsibilities Own product and technology strategy for a portfolio of enterprise Operational Technology platforms (e.g., BMS/BAS, Digital Twin, energy systems, lighting, dynamic glass). Define and maintain multi‑year roadmaps aligned to business priorities, financial plans (AOP/LRP), and enterprise architecture; incorporate industry trends, emerging tech, and regulatory considerations. Lead planning and investment decisions, including modernization, build‑vs‑buy, and ecosystem partnerships, to ensure sustainable, future‑ready solutions. Translate business and operational needs into clear product visions, success metrics, and prioritized initiatives; influence senior stakeholders by communicating trade‑offs, risks, and recommendations. Partner with Engineering, Campus Operations, Construction, Finance, Infosec, and vendors to deliver secure, scalable solutions; oversee execution while balancing near‑term delivery with long‑term platform health. Own the support strategy and operating model (SLAs, escalation, incident management), and ensure operational readiness for releases (documentation, training, runbooks, change management). Drive data‑informed decisions using KPIs and platform health trends (adoption, reliability, cost, impact) and use operational feedback to prioritize improvements and technical debt reduction. Qualifications – What You’ll Bring Proven experience leading enterprise‑scale products or platforms, ideally within Operational Technology, smart buildings, infrastructure platforms, or complex hybrid environments. Strong grounding in product management fundamentals, including roadmap ownership, prioritization, stakeholder alignment, and value measurement. Demonstrated ability to operate at a technology strategy level, influencing long‑term direction, investment decisions, and architectural outcomes. Experience defining or governing product support and operational models for production systems where reliability and uptime are critical. Ability to translate operational signals and incidents into strategic improvements rather than reactive fixes. Comfort navigating ambiguity, balancing competing priorities, and making informed trade‑offs. Strong executive communication skills with the ability to influence without direct authority. Qualifications – What You’ll Love You’ll operate at a rare intersection of product, technology strategy, and real‑world operations, with visibility from executive planning through live building performance. You’ll shape the long‑term direction of enterprise Operational Technology platforms, influencing how physical spaces, infrastructure, and digital systems work together at scale. You’ll drive outcomes, not just outputs—improving reliability, scalability, cost efficiency, and user experience across critical building systems. You’ll use real operational signals (incidents, reliability trends, adoption data) to inform strategy and investment decisions, creating tangible business impact. You’ll partner with a broad, senior set of stakeholders across Technology, Campus Operations, Finance, Construction, and Security. You’ll work on platforms that matter every day, supporting environments where people work, collaborate, and operate at enterprise scale. Benefits Health benefits include medical, vision, and dental coverage. Financial benefits include a 401(k), stock purchase, and company‑paid life insurance. Paid time off benefits include PTO, parental leave, family care leave, bereavement, jury duty, and voting. Other benefits include short‑term and long‑term disability, company discounts, Military Leave Pay, adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, and more. Additional compensation may include stock. Compensation The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 – $180,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, business, finance, strategy, or related area and 8 years’ experience in retail, eCommerce, strategy, operations, technology, management consulting, or related area. 10 years’ experience in retail, eCommerce, strategy, operations, technology, management consulting or related area. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related area and 8 years’ experience as a product manager, ideally working on consumer‑facing, large‑scale, highly complex B2B/C products. Supervisor experience and background in creating inclusive digital experiences, implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly. Knowledge of accessibility best practices and commitment to Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for an inclusive culture.
