Shop Technician II - Quality Inspection

Requisition Number: 32766 Company: Westinghouse Electric Co Location: New Stanton, US As a Shop Tech I on the Quality Inspection team, you will perform inspections, examinations, and tests according to documented procedures and industry practices. You will be an individual contributor who conducts routine analyses and tests of different components of a quality control program in the production lines and tests of in-process materials and finished products to ensure conformity to specifications. You will follow standard procedures and communicate information that requires little explanation or interpretation. You will report to the Assistant Area Manager of Mechanical Product and will be based out of the New Stanton, PA facility. This anchor position requires on‑site presence five days per week. Key Responsibilities Perform inspections, examinations, and tests according to documented procedures and industry practices. Conduct mechanical inspections, including physically measuring the product with measuring & testing equipment, basic setup and operation of 3D Coordinate Measuring Machine and 2D measurement systems. Conduct electrical inspections, including operating electrical test equipment, operating test panels, visual inspections per design documents, and crimp, solder, and assembly verifications per design specifications and standards. Perform visual inspections: look for defects in the product; manage work related to deliveries by scanning/reviewing inspection files against customer requirements and completing packaging and labeling requirements. Determine if the calibration status of inspection and measuring equipment is current; verify that the measuring and test equipment (M&TE) is in proper condition; ensure that the inspection, examination, and test procedures are approved. Organize and manage work related to outgoing deliveries, including scanning/reviewing inspection files against customer requirements and completing packaging and labeling requirements. Follow up quickly and consistently to bring issues to closure; set challenging goals and achieve measurable results; proactively resolve problems and seek opportunities for continuous improvement; recognize when clarity and guidance are needed; seek help and use a questioning attitude when needed. Successfully complete and maintain applicable site‑specific safety training, including Electrical Safety; Radiation Safety; Hazards Communication; Respiratory Protection; Lifting/Handling; PPE Use; complete certifications as applicable; train to job applicable procedures. Qualifications High School degree or equivalent. 0-2 years of relevant experience with demonstrated electrical, mechanical, machining, or inspection skills. Specific knowledge of electrical or mechanical drawing, or machining plus required mathematics. Qualification and certification for Inspection to ANSI N45.2.6; Certification to Visual VT-1 Mechanical; experience with inspection of electrical parts preferred. United States Department of Labor Journeyman Certification preferred. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications, and skills, is estimated to be $49,534.00 to $63,440.00 per year.
