Position Overview
Our organization is on the lookout for a skilled, enthusiastic, and compassionate Pediatric Physiatrist/Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine physician to become a part of the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R). This division, a vital component of our medical institute, consists of a dedicated team of fellowship-trained pediatric PM&R physicians and nurse practitioners who deliver comprehensive, multidisciplinary care, enabling children to reach their highest level of independence.
The ideal candidate will possess a wide-ranging clinical background and a keen interest in program development, particularly in expanding both inpatient and outpatient services as our organization continues to grow.
Clinical ResponsibilitiesThe role encompasses various clinical settings, including:
- The inpatient rehabilitation unit
- The inpatient PM&R consult service
- The outpatient physiatry clinic
- Other multidisciplinary clinics
The division is actively engaged in managing injection therapies for spasticity and dystonia across multiple environments, as well as participating in multidisciplinary surgical management, including SDR, ITB, and DBS. There are also opportunities for clinical expansion in EMG/NCV. Educational involvement includes teaching within the Honor Health PM&R residency program in Phoenix, along with pediatric, neurology, and palliative care training programs.
Key Features of the PM&R Division- The only dedicated acute pediatric and adolescent inpatient rehabilitation program in Arizona and surrounding regions, staffed by fellowship-trained pediatric PM&R professionals.
- A 12-bed CARF accredited inpatient unit featuring private rooms, ventilator capabilities, and adjacent therapy gym and treatment spaces.
- Access to advanced rehabilitation technology and experienced pediatric therapists for both inpatient and outpatient care.
- An onsite school program, along with psychology, neuropsychology, pet therapy, and music therapy support services.
- A gait lab for specialized assessments.
- A strong interdisciplinary collaboration environment.
- Opportunities for education of pediatric and PM&R residents, as well as medical students and fellows.
- Possibility of obtaining faculty status at local universities and medical institutions.
- Clinical research opportunities supported by the institution.
- Integration within the broader medical group and the Barrow Neurological Institute.

ResponsibilitiesPatient Care Services- Deliver patient care services for which the physician is clinically privileged, including:
- Direct patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Subspecialty consultations and follow-up care.
- Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Urgent and emergent care as required.
- Strive for optimal patient and family-centered care.
- Support hospital patient satisfaction goals and division-specific targets.
- Adhere to divisional standards for patient safety and quality of care.
- Practice contemporary evidence-based medicine.
- Set and work towards achieving annual goals and objectives for the physician, division, and hospital.
- Support medical education initiatives, including:
- Supervising trainees and allied health professionals in service delivery.
- Conducting teaching rounds, lectures, and conferences.
- Participating in the education of trainees and allied health professionals.
- Engaging in postgraduate continuing education activities.
- Contribute to the division's research efforts and support initiatives led by other members.
- Encourage the growth of division programs.
- Assist with satellite efforts of the division when appropriate.
- Treat colleagues, staff, and patients with respect and dignity.
- Foster a safe and collaborative healthcare environment.
- Support the organization's mission, vision, and values, emphasizing family-centered care and clinical excellence.
- Assist the Division Chief in liaising with the professional community and public as needed.
- Conduct teaching rounds or conferences outside the organization to support divisional initiatives.
- Represent the organization professionally in medical and business communities.
- Possess essential physical and mental skills, including:
- Effective communication via various devices.
- Ability to perform after-hours or night call duties as necessary.
- Consistent attendance during scheduled work hours.
