Residential Counselor Weekend Day Shift Location: East Village Ave. [HQ], Montgomery Village, MD, US Salary Range: $17.15–$18.50 hourly Reporting to the Residential Program Manager, the Residential Counselor is responsible for providing one-to-one direct care and support to individuals living in group residences. The role includes training residents in skills to enable them to live in less supervised environments and to become active members in their communities. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in a human services discipline (e.g., psychology, social work) preferred; equivalent experience acceptable. Experience: Two years of experience with individuals with autism required if only a high‑school diploma is held. One year of related experience required if an associate’s degree is held. Skills: Strong interpersonal and patience skills; strong organizational and case‑management abilities; computer literacy with proficiency in standard business software (word processing, spreadsheet, e‑mail). Essential Functions Work one‑to‑one with residents, assisting them with daily living activities such as money management, housekeeping, cooking, personal care, hygiene, and socialization. Maintain a warm, clean, and safe home environment conducive to residents’ optimal development. Implement the individual activity schedule, documenting all activities on the weekly schedule. Participate in development and review of the Individual Plan (IP); alert the Residential Supports Advisor when a review is needed; document changes to the resident’s program. Work with the Residential Program Manager to account for residents’ individual monies and teach them money‑management techniques. Adhere to mandatory use of the CIMS system for email, health information, data, and incident reporting for residents in the CSAAC program. Required Training / Professional Certifications Completion and demonstration of techniques taught in the Behavioral Principles and Strategies Training (BPST). Annual recertification of the BPST. Valid driver’s license and completion of defensive‑driver training; ability to operate own vehicle and CSAAC vehicles as required. Physical Requirements The employee must regularly talk, hear, and use hands to manipulate objects, tools, and controls. The position requires reaching with hands and arms, and close vision. Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and lifting or moving items over 20 pounds are required. The employee must complete training and perform non‑adverse physical interventions with autistic individuals of varying heights, weights, and strength levels according to the guidelines presented in the Behavioral Principles and Strategies training.
