Job Title: Mechanical Pump Assembler

Job Description

This role focuses on assembling customer-specific pumps in a small, deadline-driven manufacturing environment. You will work from detailed prints and schematics, using hand and power tools to build customized pump systems. The position is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical aptitude-such as a carpenter, plumber, or fabricator-who enjoys hands-on work, takes initiative, and wants to grow with a long-term opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Assemble customer-specific pumps according to detailed blueprints, prints, and schematics.

• Use a variety of hand and power tools, including tape measures, to build and fit pump components accurately.

• Interpret and follow technical drawings and documentation to ensure correct assembly and configuration.

• Work with PVC, stainless pipes, and other materials as needed for plumbing-related pump assemblies.

• Apply knowledge of plastic fabrication, including an understanding of heat penetration when working with plastic materials.

• Collaborate with team members and ask clarifying questions to ensure quality and accuracy in all builds.

• Meet production deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented manufacturing environment.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety guidelines and best practices.

• Troubleshoot basic assembly issues and make adjustments to improve fit, function, and overall product quality.

• Demonstrate self-sufficiency, discipline, and initiative in daily tasks while being open to guidance when needed.

Essential Skills

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, prints, and schematics.

• Proficiency in using hand and power tools, including tape measures, safely and accurately.

• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on assembly experience.

• Prior plumbing experience working with PVC or stainless pipes.

• Experience in carpentry or woodworking, or similar mechanical trade

• Comfort working in a deadline-oriented manufacturing setting.

• Self-motivation, discipline, and initiative to work independently without close supervision.

• Willingness to ask questions, learn new techniques, and grow within the role.

• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise work.

• Ability to work effectively on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday.

Work Environment

You will work in a clean, small manufacturing facility with approximately 18 people, fostering a collaborative and familiar atmosphere. The position is on first shift, running from 7:00 AM to 3:45 PM, Monday through Friday, providing a consistent daytime schedule. The work takes place in a heated warehouse, ensuring a comfortable environment throughout the year. The setting combines newer technology with time-proven product lines, offering both stability and opportunities to learn. Supervisors do not micromanage, so you are expected to be self-sufficient, disciplined, and proactive while asking questions when needed. When things are going well, employees may listen to headphones or the radio at their workstations, contributing to a focused yet relaxed workday.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
