Key Responsibilities of the Cardiovascular Technologist

• Assist in scrubbing and utilizing sterile technique for invasive cardiovascular procedures including angioplasty
• Prepare surgical trays and tables for procedures
• Monitor patient's hemodynamic status and ECG
• Collect and enter patient information into the physiologic monitoring system
• Conduct pre-procedure interviews to obtain medical history and educate patients
• Prepare cath lab and equipment prior to invasive testing
• Position patients and connect monitoring devices
• Assist cardiologists with arterial closure devices and obtain hemostasis

Requirements of the Cardiovascular Technologist

• State of CT Radiographer license
• ARRT (R) and/or RCIS certification through CCI
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Cardiac Cath Lab or EP Lab
