Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2.5+ years of ED experience and prior travel assignment history.

Details

• Acute Care Hospital setting with 210 staffed beds
• Emergency Department unit
• General Emergency Department serving combined adult and pediatric patients
• Level I and Level II Trauma Center
• STEMI Certified and Stroke Certified Facility
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00
• 13-week assignment length
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating required within scope
• Uses Meditech charting system

Requirements

• Active FL or compact RN license required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS
• TNCC and SANE certifications preferred
• Minimum 2.5 years of ED experience required
• 1 year of neuro/stroke experience required
• Minimum of 2 previous travel assignments required
• Experience with Level 1 resuscitation patients required
• Meditech charting experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, blood product administration, central line care, and emergency medication administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG required
• Experience with triage and isolation precautions/PPE required
• Experience managing psychiatric holds, suicidal patients, and drug overdose cases required
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management and ABG interpretation required
• Experience managing violent behavior and acute psychosis preferred
• Neuro-trauma and CVA experience preferred
• Arterial line management and continuous IV paralytics experience preferred
• Ortho trauma experience and splint application preferred
• Experience with gunshot wounds, head injury, and near drowning cases preferred

Additional Information

• Must reside more than 30 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Care for patients with a wide range of emergency presentations including trauma, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and psychiatric emergencies
• Scrubs may be any color, but tee shirts, sweat shirts, and logos from other organizations are not permitted
• Free parking available in unrestricted spaces
• Holiday coverage required: if 1-2 holidays fall within the assignment, one evening and one holiday shift is required; if 3 holidays fall within the assignment, one evening and two holiday shifts are required
• RTO limited to no more than 10 days and requires an additional 2 weeks added to the assignment, with no RTO permitted during the first or last week
• Facility may accommodate block scheduling on a case-by-case basis
