Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA), where you will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver compassionate and effective patient care. This role involves performing assessments and interventions as prescribed by physicians, while actively participating in interdisciplinary care coordination and planning.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct accurate patient assessments and collaborate closely with Physical Therapists to implement necessary interventions.
- Coordinate care regularly with assigned Physical Therapists, especially when patient conditions change.
- Adhere to established care plans and perform interventions accordingly.
- Engage in interdisciplinary care planning for all assigned patients.
- Promptly communicate any changes in patient status to Case Managers, Physical Therapists, and physicians as appropriate.
- Deliver cost-effective physical therapy services, managing patient visits and medical supplies efficiently.
- Provide patient and caregiver education tailored to individualized care plans and assess the effectiveness of these educational efforts.
- Complete all required documentation within designated timeframes.
- Manage daily tasks and time effectively to meet productivity goals.
- At least one year of experience in a Joint Commission accredited hospital setting.
- Minimum one year experience in an acute rehabilitation facility or equivalent, serving adult patients.
- Home care experience of six months is preferred.
- Computer skills are advantageous.
- Current Physical Therapist Assistant license valid in the state of Missouri.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance declaration.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and navigate stairs.
- Strong communication skills, including oral, visual, and written comprehension.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities.
- Capability to lift, transfer, and move patients weighing between 10 and over 200 pounds with varying levels of assistance.
- Safe operation of a motor vehicle.
- Frequent exposure to communicable diseases through blood and body fluids.
- Potential contact with infectious diseases and occasionally hostile individuals.
- Handling of sharps and other biohazardous materials.
- Exposure to varying environmental temperatures and diverse community settings.
