MRI Tech for UPMC Altoona - If no MRI registry at hire, UPMC Altoona will provide training and clinical experiences. Full‑time, 40‑hour night position will work four 10‑hour shifts – 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., with rotation as needed. AFSCME union. Start strong: Earn a $20,000 sign‑on bonus when you join our team! Night Program Guidelines Participants must commit to working the maximum of their budgeted shifts based on FTE status; off‑shift hours (12‑hour blocks such as 3 p.m. to 3 a.m., 4 p.m. to 4 a.m., etc. or 8‑hour blocks such as 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., etc.). Eligible participants receive an additional $2 per hour night program differential on top of the hospital’s current off‑shift differential. This $2 will be given on top of the new, market‑competitive shift differentials. Any additional worked day shifts (meetings, competencies, additional overtime shifts) will be paid without the night program differential. Imaging Technologists who work rotating night shifts as part of their schedule, but are not participants in the night program, will not receive the additional $2 differential. All PTO requests must continue to be approved in advance by the participant’s unit director/manager, and the night program differential will not be applied to the hourly rate paid for PTO. Business unit leaders will determine the appropriate number of program participants based on business unit and department needs. Night Program Eligibility Must be in a patient care technician role in a regular full‑time or part‑time status, and work on a unit that requires 24‑hour on‑site coverage. Imaging Technologists who have completed their orientation period and have at least six months of experience are eligible to participate. Must have a performance rating of Solid/Strong/Good and not received any corrective action within the last six months. Maintaining a Solid/Strong/Good rating is required to remain in the program. New employees are able to enter the program at the time of hire. If a participant resigns or is removed from the program for not meeting the night program guidelines, they are not permitted to return to the program for one calendar year. If a participant does not work steady night shifts, they are not eligible to receive the additional differential and their participation will be evaluated for removal from the program. There is no impact to medical benefits, short‑term disability (STD), long‑term disability (LTD), PTO, or tuition reimbursement as part of this program. Responsibilities Demonstrates knowledge and ability to adapt to clinical treatment and instructional aspects of care to all stages of the life cycle and to various states of health and disease. Selects and operates equipment as directed. Technologist sets up equipment to provide the best information on exam as needed. Rotates within the department or other areas and by shift as required. Provides immobilizing devices as required. Complies with established occupational BBF and TB exposure policies. Supports department and hospital‑based CPI activities by actively participating in the CPI process. Acquires and maintains skill level in venipuncture therapy in accordance with department policy. Use of PACS and Syngo. Knowledge of the hospital PACS system, to review and acquire current and previous images. Use of the Radiology Information System and Sorian Scheduling System. Performs tasks of scanning documents, interactive documents, capable of charging, revising, and adding procedures. Assists physicians in administering contrast media. Assists in performing first aid as necessary; renews skills annually per job requirements. Maintains adequate records as directed on requisitions, etc.; maintains orderliness and cleanliness; secures and returns supplies. Provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards; ensures all guidelines are followed for patients, co‑workers. May be responsible for specific areas of instruction for ancillary personnel; cooperates in education for ancillary staff, students, and others directed by supervisor or medical or administrative directors. Practices sterile technique and prevents cross‑contamination. Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis; sets equipment as needed. Transfers and positions patients per exam, radiologist dictates. Addresses all patient information to ensure safety, and directs patients accordingly. Graduate of an ARRT‑approved school of Radiologic Technology, or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMRIT or ARDMS program. ARRT registry‑eligible technologist must obtain ARRT within 6 months of hire date. MR registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired or date of hire if primary registry is already obtained. CNMT, ARDMS and ARMRIT graduates must obtain MR registry within 12 months of hire date. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances ARRT registry‑eligible technologist must obtain ARRT within 6 months of hire date. MR registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired or date of hire if primary registry is already obtained. CNMT, ARDMS and ARMRIT graduates must obtain MR registry within 12 months of hire date. CPR or BLS required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
