Accountant IThe Accountant I has responsibilities that include but are not limited to, performing complex budget and accounting work. This position has considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. This is a full-time position that reports to LSCPA's Finance Department.Duties/ResponsibilitiesPerform daily budget entries as advised by the Executive DirectorMaintain position control for budget in BannerUpdate Salary Planner for budget changes as advised by the Executive DirectorPerform daily accounting tasks related to budget included EPAFs, activating positions in Banner, and assisting the ED with campus customers with budget requestsAssist in the yearly budget process under the leadership of the Executive DirectorAssist in the bi-ennial Legislative Appropriations Request (LAR) process under the leadership of the Executive DirectorRecord journal entries as neededReconcile quarterly USAS with the Legislative Budget Board's (LBB) Accounting System (ABEST)Reconcile state cost centers and perform other reconciliations as neededData entry of State entries into USAS (Uniform Statewide Accounting System)Reconcile local bank accounts and perform other reconciliations as neededComply with campus policies and proceduresOther related duties, as assignedMinimum/Preferred QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in AccountingTwo (2) to four (4) years' experience on jobs leading this, or similar jobsSupplemental InformationPhysical Requirements:This position requires employees to remain in a stationary position most of the time; move to various locations on campus; move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; and operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine.Lamar State College Port Arthur is an E-Verify Employer.This position is security-sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
