In this role, you will work as part of a team to combine scientific and engineering principles, data driven techniques, and the most current experimental methods with robust subject-specific scientific expertise, to implement high-value solutions to complex technical problems. You will have the opportunity to apply your technical expertise across an extremely wide cross-section of industry and will interact with a variety of client contacts ranging from managers, engineers, legal staff, and business leaders. You will be expected to demonstrate continued professional growth, both in technical areas relevant to your expertise, and in business skills essential to providing effective consulting services. You will be responsible for Performing electrical engineering analysis related to ongoing Exponent consulting work in a broad range of fields including power systems, power electronics, renewable energy, battery systems, electromechanical equipment, control systems, consumer products, and electrical safetyApplying your overall problem-solving skills and your deep expertise in electrical engineering or your related discipline to solve the difficult technical challenges that underly fundamental questions including why a system failed, how equipment can be made safer, and how products can perform betterDesigning and executing testing and analysis programs in both laboratory and field settingsCommunicating technical information to diverse audiences; including authoring technical reports and proposals, and presenting technical information and guidance to clientsExperience is desired in, but not limited to, one or more of the following technical areas:Electronic circuits including analog and/or digital systemsPower electronics and/or power systemsControl systemsInstrumentation and sensorsSignal ProcessingEmbedded systemsIndustrial process controlRoot cause/failure analysis You will have the following skills and qualifications Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Power and Energy Engineering, Physics, or other related disciplineHands-on experience with electrical systems and equipment, power and energy systems, electronic hardware, and/or software developmentExperience designing, constructing, and performing testing programs in a laboratory setting and using electrical test and development equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, multimeters and soldering equipmentCompetence with at least one common scientific programming language such as Python, C/C++, or MATLABAbility to work both independently and in multidisciplinary teams and the ability to support multiple projects simultaneouslyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to collect, organize, and analyze information and convey technical conclusions to diverse audiencesPresently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required Preferred skills and qualifications: Experience with simulation or design software such as MATLAB/Simulink, COMSOL, PCB design, and SPICE circuit simulation environmentsApplicants are encouraged to submit a CV (Curriculum Vitae) with publications (feel free to include publications that are in review or pending) [not restricted to 1 page]. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Associate and Senior Associate level, total compensation includes base salary, bi-weekly bonuses for high-intensity efforts, annual bonus and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process. Salary Range USD $140,000.00 - USD $154,000.00 /Yr.
