Staff Infrastructure / Backend Engineer

A fast-growing AI company in San Francisco is hiring a Senior / Staff Infrastructure Engineer to build and operate the cloud backbone behind its intelligence platform for engineering and manufacturing organizations. This is a full-time, hybrid role (3 days onsite) focused on modern cloud infrastructure (GCP, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code) for highly data-heavy, latency-sensitive systems. This is a high-impact opportunity for someone who enjoys owning critical infrastructure in a small, elite team. You’ll be the person other engineers rely on to keep deployments secure, reliable, and repeatable across both the company’s own environments and customer-managed clouds. Required Skills & Experience 3–5+ years of hands‑on experience in cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred; AWS or Azure also relevant) Strong experience running production workloads with Kubernetes, Docker, and related orchestration tooling (e.g., Helm) Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, or equivalent) Solid grounding in application and cloud security: RBAC/ABAC, multi‑tenant systems, identity/access frameworks, and secrets management Experience deploying into customer‑managed cloud environments and/or hybrid cloud setups Background with monitoring, logging, and observability for production systems Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for cloud‑native services Desired Skills & Experience Exposure to data infrastructure: streaming frameworks, caching layers, or big data stores Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC2, ISO, HIPAA, or FedRAMP Prior experience in high‑security, regulated environments (e.g., aerospace, medtech, automotive) Backend development experience (Python, APIs, distributed systems) Exposure to ML infrastructure concepts or tooling What You Will Be Doing Tech Breakdown 60% GCP cloud infrastructure (VPCs, networking, security, IAM, peering, firewalls) 25% Kubernetes & container orchestration (K8s clusters, Helm, service meshes) 15% Infrastructure as Code & CI/CD (Terraform/Pulumi, pipelines, automation) Daily Responsibilities 80% Hands On 10% Architectural & Security Leadership 10% Team Collaboration The Offer Bonus eligible You will receive the following benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Vacation Time Stock Options Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the US on a full‑time basis now and in the future #J-18808-Ljbffr Motion Recruitment Partners LLC
