Responsibilities
- Facilitate physician performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic cardiovascular procedures; handle instruments, supplies, and equipment during procedures; maintain the sterile field and patient safety.
- Set up the sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions; assist in draping and maintaining the sterile field; pass instruments to the surgeon as needed.
- Anticipate surgeon’s needs, perform appropriate counts with the circulator prior to incision and before closure, and prepare sterile dressings for application and secure dressings after incision.
- Verify procedures and ensure appropriate supplies and equipment are available; obtain sterile and non-sterile items needed for the procedure; assist in room turnover and prepare the room for the next patient.
- Assist other team members as assigned; document procedures and pertinent information in the patient record per policy; maintain equipment and supplies to support efficient workflow.
- Uphold established safety, infection control, and EPIC documentation practices throughout the assignment.

Requirements
- Education: Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology
- Licenses/Certifications: National Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists certified (preferred); CPR certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor (preferred)
- Experience: At least two years of recent experience in the field; heart/cardiovascular experience preferred
- Certifications/EHR: EPIC electronic health record experience required
- Licensure: Current nursing license per the state of assignment
- Work setting: Ability to work in a Short Term Acute Care Hospital environment
