Packaging Operator

The Packaging Operator works in the vitamins manufacturing area and supports a variety of packaging and production activities. This role focuses on sorting and preparing bulk product, operating and setting up packaging equipment, managing raw materials such as bottles, caps, and corrugate, and ensuring products are packaged accurately and safely according to quality standards and batch records.

Responsibilities

• Manually sort and de-clump bulk vitamin product prior to the packaging process to ensure smooth line operation.
• Identify and remove critical product defects, including deformed, discolored, misshaped, or incorrect-sized items, before packaging.
• Supply hoppers and packaging equipment with bottles, caps, and other raw materials as needed to maintain continuous production flow.
• Perform or verify daily operator quality checks in accordance with batch records and established procedures.
• Manually package product as needed, including loading and removing items from the packaging line.
• Assist with line clearance activities to prepare equipment and work areas for new batches or product changeovers.
• Support cleaning and sanitization procedures for packaging equipment and surrounding work areas to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Follow all production, safety, and quality guidelines while working around conveyor lines, packaging machinery, and manufacturing equipment.
• Monitor inventory of packaging materials and communicate any shortages or issues to the appropriate team members.
• Work effectively as part of the production team to meet output, quality, and efficiency goals.

Essential Skills

• At least one (1) year of work experience in a manufacturing, production, packaging, or similar environment, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent level of education that provides the knowledge and abilities needed to perform the job.
• Experience with packaging operations, including pick/pack activities and working on production lines.
• Ability to perform detailed inspection tasks, including identifying product defects and verifying quality checks.
• Comfort working with inventory, packing, labelling, and filling processes in a production or food production environment.
• Ability to follow written batch records, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines accurately.
• Capability to work assigned shifts reliably, including weekdays and potential weekend or night shifts.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, handle repetitive tasks, and work around moving machinery and conveyor systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in food production or vitamin manufacturing environments is beneficial.
• Familiarity with packaging equipment set-up and basic operation is an advantage.
• Experience working in environments with chemicals or detergents and heavy machinery is helpful.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and cleanliness.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a production team.
• Willingness to learn new equipment and processes and adapt to different production areas as needed.

Work Environment

The role is based in manufacturing facilities that produce laundry detergent and vitamin gummies, using chemical mixing operations, heavy machinery, and extensive conveyor lines. The vitamins manufacturing (VMS) area focuses on gummy production and packaging and is typically cleaner, with significant conveyor, packaging, and manufacturing equipment in operation. Temperatures in some areas can become hot due to manufacturing processes, and employees work around active production lines and mechanical equipment. Multiple shift options are available, including: A Shift: 5:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Monday–Friday; B Shift: 1:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Monday–Friday; C Shift: 9:30 p.m. – 5:30 a.m. Monday–Friday (workweek ends Saturday morning); E Shift: Thursday & Friday 5:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday & Sunday 5:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.; F Shift: Thursday & Friday 9:30 p.m. – 6:00 a.m., Saturday & Sunday 5:30 p.m. – 5:30 a.m; Weekend Nights: Saturday & Sunday 5:30 p.m. – 5:30 a.m. The environment is production-focused, with an emphasis on safety, cleanliness, and adherence to operating procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of York, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
