As a full-time Mentor at EOSIS Elevations & Seven Stars in Syracuse, UT, you'll support adolescents facing emotional and behavioral challenges while gaining valuable experience in mental health, behavioral health, psychology, counseling, social work, youth development, and residential treatment.

In this role, you'll serve as a trusted mentor and role model, helping students build confidence, resilience, life skills, and healthy coping strategies. You'll facilitate therapeutic activities, support treatment goals, participate in recreational programming, and collaborate with therapists, nurses, and other behavioral health professionals as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.

Whether you're starting your career or building experience for graduate programs in psychology, counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or behavioral health, this role offers hands-on experience that makes a lasting impact.

Pay: $18.00–$20.50/hour + shift differential
Shifts Available:

• 3:00 PM–11:00 PM

Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Build positive therapeutic relationships with adolescents through mentorship, coaching, and daily engagement.
• Supervise and support students throughout daily routines, treatment activities, recreation, and educational programming.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups, daily living activities, skill-building exercises, and community-based experiences.
• Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and contribute observations regarding client progress and treatment goals.
• Help implement individualized treatment plans and therapeutic interventions.
• Utilize verbal de-escalation, behavior management, and therapeutic communication techniques.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic residential environment.
• Monitor student safety, behavior, whereabouts, and adherence to program expectations.
• Supervise students during on-campus and off-campus activities, including recreational outings and experiential programming.
• Participate in health, fitness, recreational, and outdoor activities with students.
• Assist students with therapeutic assignments, educational goals, and treatment-related activities.
• Complete progress notes, admission documentation, shift reports, treatment logs, and other required documentation accurately and timely.
• Administer medications in accordance with facility policies, physician orders, and training requirements.
• Monitor and implement restrictions, precautions, and individualized treatment recommendations.
• Participate in ongoing staff development, annual training requirements, and certification programs.
• Support transportation, recreation, and specialized program assignments when needed.
• Complete additional duties as assigned to support student care and program operations.

Required Skills

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to serve as a positive role model for adolescents.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary behavioral health team.
• Ability to complete required training, certifications, and annual educational requirements.
• Ability to maintain professionalism during challenging or crisis situations.

Preferred:

• Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, Sociology, Education, Behavioral Sciences, Criminal Justice, Recreation Therapy, or a related field.
• Experience working with youth, adolescents, behavioral health, mental health, residential treatment, education, social services, recreation, coaching, or human services.
• CPR Certification.
• First Aid Certification.
• Experience in mentoring, youth development, counseling, coaching, special education, case management, or behavioral health support.
• Knowledge of adolescent development, trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and behavior management.
• Outdoor recreation experience including camping, hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, adventure programming, or experiential education.

Additional requirements include:

• Ability to actively participate in recreational, therapeutic, educational, and community activities with students.
• Ability to hike, camp, kayak, rock climb, mountain bike, and participate in experiential learning opportunities.
• Ability to respond appropriately during behavioral incidents and student safety situations.
• Ability to utilize verbal de-escalation techniques and approved behavior-management interventions.
• Ability to assist with therapeutic safety interventions when necessary and permitted by training.
• Ability to maintain awareness of student whereabouts, behavior, and safety needs at all times.
• Ability to communicate effectively during both routine and emergency situations.

Physical Requirement:  

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to actively participate in recreational, therapeutic, and experiential activities with students.
• Ability to hike, bike, camp, kayak, rock climb, ski, or participate in other outdoor activities as required by the program.
• Ability to transport students and remain actively engaged during community outings.
• Ability to maintain awareness of student safety, behaviors, and whereabouts at all times.
• Ability to utilize approved crisis intervention and therapeutic safety procedures when necessary.
• Ability to respond quickly during student emergencies or safety concerns.
• Ability to communicate effectively in routine, therapeutic, and crisis situations.
• Ability to maintain physical stamina necessary for active adolescent behavioral health environments.
