Director of Operations

Director of Sales Operations – Northlake, IL The Director of Sales Operations drives strategic analysis, execution, and organizational development to achieve financial and non‑financial goals. The role creates a lean mindset throughout the assigned direct‑store‑delivery (DSD) facility to improve safety, productivity, and performance through standardization and process discipline. Responsibilities Drive accident and injury reduction targets for the assigned facility. Provide case management and follow‑up on all SAFE system cases, ensuring proper accident investigations, classifications, root‑cause counter‑measures, and continuous improvement. Drive a Safety First culture by ensuring all employees complete monthly Regulatory and Safety in Motion training and achieve 100% compliance with Safety Playbooks. Ensure regulatory compliance by conducting OSHA‑style audits and closing any regulatory gaps to achieve 100% compliance. Improve the On‑Time and Accurate (OTA) score by addressing routing and delivery issues and ensuring pick accuracy exceeds 99.8% through full execution of Voice Pick standards and daily checklists. Reduce waste so the facility meets or exceeds break/shrink/obsolescence goals on a cost‑per‑case basis. Control labor costs by applying Warehouse University principles, deploying the Warehouse Self Assessment tool, and ensuring costs meet or beat the plan on a cost‑per‑case basis. Communicate regularly with internal and external partners and customers through weekly operations calls and as‑needed meetings to maintain high customer service levels. Drive facility‑level engagement plans and ensure employee engagement across large teams or multiple sites. Manage P&L responsibility for the facility. Ensure high performance results for the team: Foster a culture of trust and wellbeing that prioritizes the team and values employee contributions. Drive a shared vision with clear goals and accountability, supported by regular conversations. Embrace diverse perspectives to foster innovation and learning from successes and failures. Establish a safe environment where team members are motivated, heard, and aligned with clear expectations. Travel up to 75% of the time may be required. Ideal Candidate A proven track record of improving safety results and leading continuous improvement initiatives with superior cost and management outcomes. Strong leadership and communication skills; excellent verbal and written communication and experience presenting to regional leadership teams, local leaders, and front‑line employees. Background in warehouse, inventory, and delivery management. Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT), federal, state, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) compliance. Experience with material handling equipment (MHE) and understanding of warehouse capacity, building, loading, delivery principles, FIFO, and logistics. Requirements High‑school diploma or GED with 7 years’ experience in a distribution center/DSD warehouse environment **OR** Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field with 5 years’ experience in the same environment. Strong understanding of DOT, federal, state, and EHS compliance. Experience presenting to executive leadership, local leadership teams, and front‑line employees. Prior people‑leadership experience in a distribution center or operations environment. Ability to manage operations strategically and tactically to deliver results and long‑term initiatives. Experience extracting and analyzing data from business systems to inform decision‑making. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
