Rental Equipment Technician

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform hands‑on service, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on rental generators, power distribution equipment, and related systems to ensure safe and reliable operation. Assist with transporting rental equipment to and from customer job sites using company trucks and trailers while ensuring proper loading, securing, and unloading procedures. Coordinate with customers on‑site to support setup, startup, testing, and operational training for rented power equipment. Maintain rental inventory readiness by inspecting units before and after each rental, documenting equipment condition, and identifying required maintenance or repairs. Work closely with service technicians and operations staff to prepare equipment that meets company safety standards and customer performance requirements. Monitor rental equipment performance during active rentals and respond to service calls or field issues in a timely and professional manner. Support accurate completion of rental contracts, delivery documentation, inspection reports, and service records. Build and maintain strong customer relationships by providing dependable service, technical support, and responsive communication throughout the rental process.

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

3+ years of experience in rental maintenance, preferably in generators, power systems, or heavy equipment industries. Strong understanding of generator sizing, load requirements, and application in various industries. Proven ability to manage equipment logistics, dispatching, and maintenance coordination. Experience with rental management software and Microsoft Office Suite for scheduling, inventory, and reporting. Excellent negotiation, customer service, and communication skills. Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail and the capacity to work under tight deadlines. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between locations and to customer sites as needed.
