Registered Nurse - Mother Baby

The Registered Nurse – Mother/Baby provides high-quality, family-centered nursing care to postpartum mothers and their newborns. This role focuses on promoting maternal and newborn health, education, and safety through the application of professional nursing standards and evidence-based practices. The RN collaborates with families and interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive and compassionate care throughout the postpartum experience. Key Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to postpartum mothers and newborns, including assessment, monitoring, and documentation. Support and educate new mothers on breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with families and healthcare providers. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to policies. Respond promptly to any changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions. Maintain accurate and thorough medical records using the EPIC electronic health record system. Promote a safe, supportive, and healing environment for both patients and families. Collaborate with physicians, lactation consultants, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes. Adhere to all hospital protocols, infection control procedures, and regulatory standards. Required Qualifications Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Rhode Island. Minimum of 1–2 years of recent Mother/Baby or postpartum nursing experience. Proficiency in EPIC electronic health record system. Flexibility to work 40 hours per week on a rotating schedule — days, evenings, or nights (schedule provided in advance). Proficiency in the English language (verbal and written). Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher. Experience in labor and delivery or neonatal care. Strong interpersonal, patient education, and communication skills.
