Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse for a dynamic Labor & Delivery unit in Fort Defiance, Arizona. This role involves comprehensive care for laboring mothers, postpartum patients, and newborns within an acute care setting that averages 40 deliveries and 6 C-sections per month.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) principles, including rooming-in, and will be adept at managing the full spectrum of obstetric and neonatal care. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a supportive team environment, with potential for charge nurse responsibilities after training.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care to laboring, postpartum, and newborn patients, ensuring adherence to BFHI principles and promoting rooming-in.
• Manage patient care for an active unit with an average of 40 deliveries and 6 C-sections per month.
• Monitor and assess maternal and fetal well-being throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.
• Assist with C-section procedures and provide post-operative recovery care.
• Educate new mothers on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.
• Serve as a Charge Nurse on occasion, following completion of required training.
• Float to other departments as qualified and needed, providing direct patient care or task-oriented support.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of recent, direct experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn care within an acute healthcare setting.
• Demonstrated flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Licensing Requirements
