Cost Accountant

NextStep Recruiting is partnering with a confidential oil and gas client to identify a Cost Accountant for its Fort Worth office. This role offers broad exposure across Accounting, Engineering, Land, and senior leadership within a lean operating environment. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and interested in building deeper oil and gas accounting experience. Responsibilities Analyze operational data and prepare monthly journal entries to allocate costs across multiple assets Develop, maintain, and improve cost allocation processes and accounting support schedules Support month-end, year-end, and partner audit activities, including AFE setup and maintenance Assist with tracking company assets, inventory, and related billing activity Partner with engineering and other internal teams to interpret accounting data and support business decisions Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Minimum 3 years of accounting experience within the oil & gas industry Strong Excel skills with the ability to learn industry-specific accounting systems Knowledge of cost allocations, AFEs, operational expenses, and month-end accounting processes Self-motivated with strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills #J-18808-Ljbffr NextStep Recruiting
