We are looking for a detail-oriented Tax Staff team member to join a public accounting team in California. This position supports a wide range of tax and client service activities, including return preparation, research, bookkeeping support, and financial statement preparation. Responsibilities:
• Prepare tax filings for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and tax-exempt entities with a high level of accuracy and organization.
• Assist clients with bookkeeping and accounting needs by maintaining records and supporting routine financial activities.
• Draft internal-use financial statements for clients and help organize year-end financial information.
• Research tax questions and provide well-supported findings in response to requests from clients, supervisors, or partners.
• Review notices and other government correspondence, then prepare timely and appropriate responses on behalf of clients.
• Complete annual property tax statements, including Form 571-L, when required.
• Prepare estimated tax vouchers and coordinate related payments for individual and corporate clients as needed.
• Develop year-end tax projections for both individual and business clients to support planning and compliance.
• Collaborate with partners and team members to monitor due dates, resolve open items, and keep engagements moving on schedule.• Experience preparing individual and corporate tax returns in a public accounting or similar work environment.
• Working knowledge of tax preparation principles and compliance requirements across multiple entity types.
• Familiarity with CCH tax software platforms, including ProSystem fx or comparable applications.
• Ability to learn firm policies, industry standards, and applicable legal and regulatory guidelines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to address questions and follow up on deadlines effectively.
• Solid organizational skills and attention to detail when handling multiple client matters at once.
