Job Title

Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse – Level 3 (Night Shift)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13-Week Assignment | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite | Full-Time | 3 shifts per week, every other weekend, and holidays as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patients' clinical conditions, recognize and interpret serious situations, prioritize care, and take immediate and appropriate nursing action including notifying the physician and implementing preplanned measures.
• Formulate nursing diagnoses and develop individualized plans of care for patients across the life span, including neonates to geriatric patients, incorporating cultural, religious, physical, and psychosocial needs as well as discharge planning.
• Initiate appropriate emergency measures when a physician is not immediately available, including resuscitative actions in the event of cardiac or respiratory arrest.
• Operate and monitor general and specialized equipment such as infusion pumps, pulse oximeters, ventilators, and cardiac monitors; administer medications, IV therapy, and other therapeutic measures as prescribed.
• Provide and document patient and family education addressing preventative, curative, and rehabilitative measures, accounting for learning needs, styles, barriers, and readiness to learn.
• Provide oversight, technical guidance, delegation, and direction to licensed practical nurses and unlicensed personnel; assume accountability for care administered by assigned team members.

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to meet physical demands including standing, walking, climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 50 lbs
• Must successfully complete pre-employment credentialing including background check and drug screen

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Post-partum nursing experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated leadership qualities and commitment to professional, ethical, and legal standards of nursing practice
