Registered Nurse In Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PACU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2-3 years of PACU/Critical Care Experience (adults and pediatrics) License: California RN License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS Must-Have: Pre-op experience Proficiency in monitoring vital signs, level of consciousness, and pain management post-anesthesia Knowledge of administering and titrating medications, including pain management and anesthesia reversal agents Ability to recognize and respond to airway complications Competence in starting and managing IV lines, including administering fluids and medications Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and accurate documentation of patient progress and interventions Experience caring for patients after various major surgeries including but not limited to general, vascular, neuro, orthopedic surgery, and trauma patients

This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The role includes caring for patients recovering from anesthesia. Shifts will vary with start times ranging from 07:30 to 10:30. If working in Pre-op, start times may be as early as 06:00. The nurse must be able to report to PACU within 30 minutes when on call. Candidates must have a California RN license in hand. The position requires the ability to monitor patients' vital signs and consciousness levels effectively. The nurse will be responsible for pain management and understanding the reversal agents for anesthesia. Competence in intravenous (IV) line management and medication administration is essential. Experience in caring for patients undergoing major surgeries is highly valued. Documentation of patient progress and interventions must be accurate and timely. This role requires comprehensive assessments and interventions in a fast-paced environment.
