Founded by a family with decades of experience as investment advisers, Alta Trust offers a variety of services for investment advisers and asset managers, ranging from custody to wealth to retirement. Currently, Alta is in the process of developing personal/family trust solutions for business owners that address items such as taxes, wealth distribution, creditor protection, etc. Role Description As an Estate Planning Attorney at Alta Trust Company, you will provide guidance on sophisticated estate, trust, and tax planning strategies for advisors and their clients. This full-time role is based in Sioux Falls, SD. Key responsibilities include assisting Alta in developing and implementing sophisticated, advanced irrevocable trust offerings that leverage South Dakota law. In addition, this person will assist with producing complex trust agreements, marketing materials, whitepapers, and similar, as well as internal policies, processes, and procedures for the onboarding and administration of these trust offerings. You will collaborate with internal teams and external advisors to analyze complex client situations, recommend appropriate structures, and help implement customized trust and estate solutions. Qualifications Strong foundation in Estate Planning and Estate Law, with the ability to design and explain advanced planning strategies. Experience with Estate Administration, including interpreting governing documents and coordinating with beneficiaries and fiduciaries. Knowledge of Succession Planning for individuals, families, and closely held businesses, including multi-generational and business transition strategies. Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; South Dakota licensure or willingness to obtain is preferred. LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning required CTFA preferred Familiarity with trust company operations, fiduciary responsibilities, and relevant federal and state tax considerations. Excellent analytical, drafting, and legal research skills, with clear, client-friendly communication (written and verbal). Ability to collaborate effectively with financial advisors, tax professionals, and internal teams in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Prior experience in a trust company, private wealth, or estate planning law firm setting is highly beneficial. Salary: $180,000 - $200,000 based on experience #J-18808-Ljbffr
