RN Operating Room

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room (OR) is responsible for delivering skilled nursing care to surgical patients, ensuring safety and quality throughout perioperative procedures. This role involves patient assessment, collaboration with surgical teams, medication administration, and maintaining sterile environments. The RN must demonstrate strong clinical expertise, effective communication, and the ability to work variable 12-hour shifts including weekends, holidays, and on-call periods. A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with surgical procedure knowledge is required. Responsibilities:

• Provide perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
• Perform patient assessments before, during, and after surgery.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure compliance with infection control standards.
• Respond to on-call duties as assigned, supporting emergency surgical cases.
• Document patient care and surgical interventions accurately in the Epic charting system.
• Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives within the OR unit.

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience; 3 years preferred with surgical procedure expertise.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• Ability to work variable 12-hour shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills.
• Effective interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication skills.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
• Prior experience in acute care or surgical nursing environments.

• On-call responsibilities including evening and overnight hours.
• Variable 12-hour shifts with coverage Sunday through Saturday.
• Must work within a 50-mile radius of the facility.
• First-time OR nurses are not accepted for this position.
• Return to Office (RTO) restrictions must be declared at application submission.

• 12-hour shifts with variable start times: 0630-1900, 0930-2200, 1030-2300.
• Includes weekend and holiday coverage as required.
• On-call shifts from 1900-2300, 2300-0700, and 0700-1900 as scheduled.
• Estimated 70-90 hours worked within a 6-week period.
