Machinist
This role involves setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC machining centers, including advanced 3-axis and 5-axis machines, to produce high-quality components from a variety of materials. The machinist reads and interprets blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions, selects appropriate tooling and fixtures, and ensures that all parts meet precise specifications through careful setup verification and inspection.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC machining centers, including 3-axis and 5-axis machines, to produce precision components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and detailed work instructions to determine machining requirements.
- Select, install, and secure tooling, fixtures, and work-holding devices appropriate for each job.
- Perform machine setup verification and conduct first-article inspections to confirm parts meet specifications before full production.
- Monitor machining operations continuously and make necessary offsets and adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and quality.
- Machine a variety of materials, including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, copper, and specialty alloys, while optimizing cutting parameters for each material.
- Perform changeovers efficiently between different jobs, including updating tooling, fixtures, and programs as required.
- Identify and troubleshoot machining issues, such as dimensional deviations, surface finish problems, or tool wear, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow established work instructions and procedures throughout the machining process.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 35 years of CNC machining experience.
- Proven experience setting up and operating 3-axis CNC mills.
- Proven experience setting up and operating 5-axis CNC mills.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.
- Ability to interpret GD&T symbols and apply them to machining operations.
- Hands-on experience with machine setup, including tooling selection, fixture installation, and work-holding configuration.
- Demonstrated ability to perform machine offsets and adjustments to maintain part quality.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving machining and equipment issues.
- Capability to operate and monitor CNC machines safely and efficiently during production.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience machining a range of materials, including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, copper, and specialty alloys.
- Familiarity with performing first-article inspections to validate setups and processes.
- Comfort working with detailed work instructions and standardized procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple changeovers and adapt quickly to different jobs and setups.

Work Environment
This position is based in a hands-on manufacturing environment focused on CNC machining operations. The role involves standing for extended periods at the machines, performing setups, monitoring production runs, and conducting inspections. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
