Histotechnologist

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is partnered with a much-respected facility in Massachusetts who is currently seeking a qualified Histology Tech to assist them on a contractual basis.


Details of the position include:

Position Title: Histology Tech


Location(s): Worcester, MA


Schedule Details:

• 1 day per week

• Approximately 9 hours per week

• 7:30 AM until surgeries are completed

• Typical end time between 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

• Potential for additional hours at nearby locations in the future

Department/Setting:

• Mohs Surgery Laboratory

• Outpatient Medical Group


Job Description:

• Prepare and process tissue specimens obtained during Mohs micrographic surgery

• Embed, freeze, cut, stain, and mount tissue sections for microscopic examination

• Operate and maintain cryostats and other laboratory equipment

• Produce high-quality histologic slides to support same-day surgical decision-making

• Label, track, and maintain chain of custody for specimens

• Collaborate closely with the Mohs surgeon and clinical team

• Perform quality control procedures and maintain laboratory records

• Maintain laboratory inventory, supplies, and equipment

• Adhere to HIPAA, CLIA, infection control, and safety standards

• Document laboratory activities and specimen processing accurately


Start Date: ASAP


Contract Duration: 13 weeks with likelihood of extension


Contract Requirements:

• 1+ years of Histology Tech, Histotechnician, MLT, or MLS experience

• Previous Mohs histotechnology experience required

• Experience preparing frozen tissue sections using a cryostat

• Knowledge of tissue processing, staining techniques, and quality control procedures

• Reliable local commute preferred

• ASCP certification strongly preferred but not required

• HT or HTL certification preferred but not required


Pay Information:

• $52/hour

• Approximately $468 weekly gross
