The manager is the primary owner of all aspects of software delivery, from insuring requirements are clear to starting to sell and cash lottery products. This includes planning and monitoring any data conversion. New features, reports, interfaces and the people who development them are the responsibility of the manager. This is a challenging and rewarding position that is very highly respecting within Scientific Games. All this requires a good mix of technical skill, verbal and written communication skills, project and personnel management. The day-to-day job is to manage people, projects, guide software direction, review and or gather requirements, drive estimation and deliver against those estimates.Responsibilities​Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members as needed for completion of work items.Work with team members on technical and professional skills to enable career growth for team membersProvide plans, schedules and status to all levels of management and customersCollect and document business requirements as neededDevelop project schedules and monitor project progress in conjunction with senior managementAssist all software engineers with hands on code implementation and code architecture and design as needed on projectsResponsible for mentorship, evaluations, conflict resolution and recognition of the staff to maintain highly motivated and engaged employeesDemonstrate a high degree of initiative and is accountable for the timely completion and thorough implementation of all tasks assigned to themEnsure developers deliver quality work as scheduled in accordance with technical design and product requirementsMaintain up to date knowledge on new programming methods and technologiesDirect customer interaction for many parts of the projects.Other duties as assigned.Travel - 25%QualificationsRequiredBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience10 years plus of management experience5 years plus senior programming experience, preferably in a large-scale transaction processing or other complex system, is a plus.Ability to supervise production support activity outside of normal office hours.Familiar with current software design methodology and architecture.Experienced with Industry Standard Source Control/Configuration toolsExperience with Real-time server programming, high availability environment programming and User interface implementation a plus.Ability to mentor, encourage and manage developers through stressful projectsKnowledge of security concepts and industry standardsKnowledge regarding many SDLC processes and methodologiesGood interpersonal, verbal communication and writing skills.Good time management skills and ability to work in a dynamic and customer centric environment.Good interpersonal, verbal communication and writing skills.Good time management skills and ability to work in a dynamic and customer centric environment.DesiredOrganizational skillsCareful and detail-oriented work stylePlanning, risk assessment with mitigationsStrong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.Build and lead a team.Ability to communicate and articulate technical issues to audiences of various types. ​Local to Atlanta, GAEducation/QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.10 years plus of management experiencePhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
