Job Summary JOB TITLE: TEACHER - SECONDARY MATHEMATICS WORK DAYS: 9 months (187 days) REPORTS TO: Principal FLSA STATUS: Exempt MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity are required to perform job responsibilities. EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with evaluation procedures and board policy. Please Note: All candidates must submit to a background check. Employment is contingent upon candidate meeting suitability criteria as established by Alabama State Department of Education. The Anniston City Board of Education does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, sex, sexual orientation, religious preference, marital status, disability, national origin, or any other reason prohibited by state or federal law. Employees of the District are required to comply with the provisions of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and Title IX of the 1972 Educational Amendments. Anniston City Board of Education is required by state law to verify the employment eligibility of newly hired employees by using the federal E-Verify program. New employees are required to provide a Social Security number, an unexpired identity document that contains a photograph, and other acceptable documents that establish employment eligibility. In addition to determining whether a new hire is authorized to work in the United States, E-Verify will confirm that the employee's name and Social Security number match.
- A Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- A valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate in Secondary Mathematics;
- Must meet Every Student Succeed Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements or a willingness to meet the requirements within the designated timeframe;
- Such above qualifications as the Board may require.
- Keeps all records required by the principal and the school system.
- Employs classroom management strategies to maintain order and discipline in the classroom.
- Prepares for assigned classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student group.
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the school system's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Evaluates student progress on a regular basis.
- Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, system policy, and administrative regulations.
- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
- Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings and department meetings.
- Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Provides for his/her professional growth through an ongoing program of content related workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
- Maintains and supports all Federal and State requests.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
