Program Director

Young Mens Christian Association Of The Chesapeake Inc

POSITION SUMMARY:Under the supervision of the Branch Executive Director, the Program Directorwill have a lead role in supervising the aquatics department and membershipservices team at the Pauline F. and W. David Robbins Family YMCA inCambridge, MD. The Program Director is responsible for developing, deliveringand administering programs to diverse groups of members. This includes but isnot limited to: membership development and services, swim lessons, waterexercise and safety programs. The incumbent is responsible for programdevelopment and quality, management and supervision of staff and compliancewith association policies, licensing requirements, procedures and expectations.The candidate must ensure the safety, well-being and personal growth of staff,members and participants.Annual Salary: $50,000ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Incorporate and model our YMCA Christian principles of caring, honesty,respect, and responsibility.2. Responsible for aquatic program operations: development and marketing,schedule of activities, staff and member communications, quality ofprogramming and classes, staff development, licensing and certificationcompliance where applicable.3. Lead the membership staff team in attracting, engaging and retainingmembers. This includes driving a superior member experience, increasingmembership enrollment, and enhancing membershipconnection/engagement, thereby increasing membership and programsatisfaction and retention. This position ensures that membershipadministration operates efficiently and employs a continuousimprovement model to meet and/or exceed goals for satisfaction,connection and engagement.4. Manage and follow related department budgets through monthly reviewand forecasting.5. Effectively follow and enforce all aquatics safety procedures andstandards in compliance with State regulations, YMCA standards andrecommendations from insurance providers.The Y: We’re for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.Conduct lifeguard, swim lesson instructor and safety certificationtrainings.6. Ensures staff certification records are current and fulfill all in-servicestandards.7. Work in cooperation with Facilities Staff to ensure proper functioning andmaintenance of the aquatics mechanical systems and facilities.8. Work in a team environment and encourage open communicationregarding concerns/issues with members, co-workers and supervisors.9. Hire, develop, train, motivate, schedule and retain a team of membershipstaff committed to the YMCA’s mission.10. Implement, track and report as required for grant funded programs.11. Accurately assesses personal feelings, strengths and limitations andhow they impact relationships. Has the functional and technical knowledge andskills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology.1. BA Degree preferred2. 2 to 4 years of experience in a leadership role in member service andprogramming related fields.3. At least 21 years of age4. Lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Preventiontraining within 30 days of hire date.5. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.PHYSICAL DEMANDSAbility to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety ofoutdoor/indoor settings.
