Material Handler

Overview Material Handler I – As a Material Handler I you will be responsible for loading, unloading, processing and storing hazardous and nonhazardous waste materials at a permitted waste treatment facility with supervision. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and consistently maintaining safe practices Loads, unloads and processes solid and liquid waste safely in accordance with Company, Federal, State and Local rules and regulations Operates a fork truck and Bobcat with attachments Directs liquid waste through a system of pumps to tanks for storage Performs basic spill cleanup and housekeeping duties as directed Performs chemical compatibility checks to prevent reactions and other issues Utilizes barcode system equipment to document certain inventory activities Reviews laboratory data to determine proper handling and disposal of materials Uses Department of Transportation (DOT) knowledge to match and label inbound materials for storage and shipping of containers to other sites Utilizes proper equipment to remove samples of materials for analysis and compatibility checks Operates a hydraulic baler for cardboard and other materials Maintains operating areas, walls, pipes, and floors in a clean and safe condition Utilizes knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, OSHA and permit regulations Utilizes Arcwood coding and labeling systems to handle and manage containers Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed including boots, gloves, suits, eye/ear protection and a respirator Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization Education High-school diploma or equivalent (required) Experience 1+ years of related experience (required) 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate (preferred) Benefits, Compensation & Workforce Diversity Arcwood offers competitive pay and bonus incentives.
