Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to lead facility operations for an established industrial distributor and service provider specializing in process control, pressure protection, automation systems, and related technical services.

This position will oversee warehouse and service operations, inventory management, logistics, safety, quality, facility maintenance, employee development, and continuous improvement. The Operations Manager will take ownership of operational results and use KPIs and performance data to improve safety, productivity, inventory accuracy, on-time delivery, quality, and customer satisfaction.

This leader will also play an important role in developing employees, strengthening processes, improving the customer experience, and supporting continued business growth. Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership

• Lead the facility's daily operations across warehouse, shipping, receiving, assembly, repair, and material-handling activities.
• Take ownership of facility-level operational results and customer-service performance.
• Monitor performance against established operational, financial, safety, quality, and customer-service goals.
• Establish, track, and communicate KPIs related to safety, quality, inventory, productivity, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction.
• Use operational data to identify trends, address performance gaps, and support informed business decisions.
• Ensure accurate and efficient shipping, receiving, warehousing, packaging, crating, and transportation activities.
• Coordinate warehouse, assembly, repair, and shipping priorities to meet customer commitments.
• Maintain compliance with established policies, procedures, and operational standards.
• Collaborate with leadership and other business units to improve customer experience, employee engagement, and operational performance.
• Provide regular updates regarding facility results, risks, priorities, and improvement initiatives.
• Balance immediate operational needs with long-term process improvement and business-growth objectives.

Safety Leadership

• Serve as the site Safety Champion and lead all local safety initiatives.
• Promote a proactive safety culture focused on hazard identification and risk reduction.
• Conduct safety observations, audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
• Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Verify that employees complete all required safety training and certifications.
• Ensure employees follow safety procedures and wear required Personal Protective Equipment.
• Maintain accurate safety documentation and support regulatory compliance.

Inventory Management

• Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, process controls, and consistent warehouse practices.
• Ensure compliance with inventory and warehouse management procedures.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate and support annual physical inventory activities.
• Improve inventory accountability, organization, and material flow.
• Partner with appropriate teams to address shortages, excess inventory, and material availability concerns.
• Use inventory metrics to identify recurring issues and improve accuracy.

Team Leadership and Development

• Coach, mentor, and develop direct reports.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide regular, constructive feedback.
• Establish clear expectations and accountability for individual and team performance.
• Develop cross-training plans for critical operational functions.
• Lead onboarding activities for new employees.
• Ensure required training and certifications are completed and documented.
• Promote teamwork, employee engagement, continuous learning, and collaboration across business units.
• Address performance concerns professionally and consistently.
• Develop team capabilities that support operational excellence and continued business growth.

Continuous Improvement and Quality

• Lead improvement projects focused on safety, quality, efficiency, cost reduction, and customer service.
• Use operational data and KPIs to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities.
• Lead quality investigations and corrective-action activities.
• Support process standardization and operational excellence initiatives.
• Review workflows and procedures to eliminate delays, errors, and unnecessary steps.
• Monitor improvement efforts to ensure changes deliver measurable and sustainable results.
• Promote a culture that encourages employees to identify problems and recommend solutions.
• Implement process improvements that strengthen productivity and the customer experience.

Facility and Vendor Management

• Manage facility maintenance activities, inspections, and improvement projects.
• Coordinate service and inspections for cranes, overhead doors, fire extinguishers, slings, alarms, and other facility equipment.
• Manage third-party contracts for cleaning, waste removal, equipment inspections, and other facility services.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for the facility's alarm company, including after-hours notifications.
• Coordinate contractors and vendors to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
• Maintain appropriate documentation for facility inspections, maintenance, and contractor services.
• Identify facility needs and develop plans to support safe and efficient operations.

Required Qualifications

• At least five years of leadership experience within warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, industrial service, or a related operations environment.
• Demonstrated success leading employees and improving operational performance.
• Experience managing safety, quality, inventory, logistics, and customer-service functions.
• Strong understanding of warehouse operations, shipping, receiving, inventory control, and material handling.
• Experience using KPIs and operational data to measure performance and guide decisions.
• Experience leading continuous improvement, process optimization, or operational excellence initiatives.
• Experience using ERP systems, reporting tools, and business applications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to analyze operational data.
• Ability to train employees on and operate stand-up and sit-down forklifts.
• Strong organizational, documentation, and follow-through skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated and capable of managing operations with limited direction.
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-focused under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience supporting industrial equipment, valve service, process control, or related technical operations.
• Experience managing facility-level financial or operational results.
• Experience leading formal continuous improvement or operational excellence programs.
• Experience managing facility maintenance projects, inspections, and third-party contractors.
• Familiarity with quality investigations, corrective actions, and performance metrics.
• Spanish-language skills are a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Sufficient hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to perform operational duties safely.
• Ability and willingness to wear required Personal Protective Equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work overtime or weekends when business needs require.
