Summary About the Position: This position supports the mission of the J-8, Financial Operations Directorate and is located in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. - A relocation incentive may be authorized. - Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. - Leave accrual negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to the Federal service. Responsibilities Formulate, implement, administer, review and evaluate accounting policy for financial management and accounting operations. Evaluate Defense Finance and Accounting System (DFAS), DHA DCFM, and supporting agency accounting policies and procedures to identify potential audit deficiencies. Present briefings and report as required in support of financial assertion efforts. Assist with implementing the General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) accounting system and follow on accounting systems as required. Provide financial administration to improve the quality of financial data over appropriated accounting and financial reporting operations. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes analyzing accounting processes, reviewing dormant account records within GFEBS, and implementing new or revised financial policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
